Happy Anniversary

WOW!  My Memorial Day weekend looks a lot different than it did last year!  At this time exact moment last year, I was running, sweating, and probably dropping a few curse words (sorry Mom)!  I think Leah may have even been shedding a few tears.  I put in over 80 hours that week but I wouldn't change it for the world!  It was one of the most EPIC Le Rae weddings to date.  Thanks so much to Casey and Jeremy Pruitt for trusting us with your day!

Over two years ago, I was honored when I got a "top secret" phone call from a bride to be.  Our first order of business was to find the perfect setting for what would be an elegant, southern soiree.  I think we can all agree by the picture below we nailed that task!  Hello Winton Blount Estate!

There is a gorgeous little chapel on the property that looks as if it was airlifted from Europe and dropped in a field in Montgomery, Alabama. This is where they had their first look and ceremony.

After the ceremony, guests strolled up the driveway and were greeted by tufted couch filled with yummy mini BLTs, fig and goat cheese bruschetta, and a tea cart filled with flavored waters.

The rest of the menu by Red's Little School House didn't disappoint either.  It was A blast to design and style each of these stations.

Fruit, cheeses, homemade pickles, seasoned crackers (Jeremy's favorite), and more looked great under served under these custom boxes made by my hubby!  I'm obsessed with the gold molding.

A south of the border station with fresh tortilla chips, a variety of salsas, queso.  it also included a chef preparing fresh guacamole for guests and was made complete with red and white wine sangria.

GUESTS ENJOYED A DELICIOUS BUFFET OF BAKED HAM, SMOKED TURKEY, SCALLOPED POTATOES, VEGETABLE MEDLEY, FRIED CORNBREAD, AND ROLLS.

That chandelier from Special Events Lighting was insane!

The mint mirrors were perfect for some of the round table centerpieces.

We created a secret dinner for two for them after the ceremony.

Whitlee Lusk knocked it out of the park with all of the signage.

Peggy McKinney combined with fresh flowers and La Tavola linens equals HEAVEN!  Don't you agree?

Jeremy isn't a big fan of cake but he does love pecan pie.  We created a pecan bar with mini pies, pecan candy, and salted pecans.

Can someone say perfection?

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

When Lacy May and John Andrews set their wedding date of April 28, 2012, Lacy gave us 3 words; water, vintage, and fried okra.  I knew the spot.....Pisgah Hill.  It was the perfect setting.  I remember taking them over to see it for the first time.  I couldn't help but be nervous!  Would she like it?  Would she see what I see....the possibilities?  But, the second we turned in the driveway and headed toward the pond Lacy made her all familiar noise "ooohhhhhh" and I immediately knew this would be our first wedding on the land!

Our house is 300 feet away from Pisgah Hill so it was a great spot for the bridal party to get ready.  This is one of the many AMAZING shots by Wes Roberts.

Lacy arrived at the ceremony in style in this gorgeous antique car.  Thank you Mr. Sanders.

The nuptials took place in nature's cathedral complete with antique doors that opened for all to gaze upon the ceremony, the sunset, and their reflections in the nearby pond.

Don't ask KK about these wreaths!  I don't remember what the "tiff" was about...all I remember is eyes were cut and their may have been snarls!  LOL!

In order for guests to get to the reception, we knew many would have to walk around the pond dam.  It was important to us for it to be an enjoyment rather than a chore.  SO, what'd we do?  We got creative with it!  We created 10 frames with letters and pictures from friends and family of the couple.  While sipping lemonade, guests strolled across the memory adorned trail to the tented reception area.

The reception was “vintage-ly” fabulous; from the antiques, to the lace linens, to the fried okra and cornbread by Red's Little School House.

Loved the arrangements we did in antique silver punch bowls.

We HAD to have lounge areas with antique furntiure!  We found this set for a BARGAIN and it was probably our favorite!

Comical Encounters

Written Thursday April 18, 2013

Have you ever had a comical encounter with God?  I totally believe He has a sense of humor.....I mean we are created in his image, right?!  Well, today I had one of those moments!  To understand it, I'll need to rewind 24 hours.  The hubs and I were laying in bed talking about our day.  I was "happily complaining" about everything I had done this week and what was to come over the next 48 hours.   In the middle of our conversation, Kelly asked me "have you blogged lately"?  OK, TIME OUT.....BIG score for him for paying attention to my rambling AND even bigger brownie points for being involved enough to think about my blog.  I looked over at him and said "NO and I have no clue what I am going to blog about!".  I was almost aggravated that with all I had to do I was going to add 1.) a blog post and just as hard 2.) coming up with something to blog about to the list (my goal is blog every 7-10 days).  I don't want to be too "bragadocious" (but it really drives home the point)....this week we have met with 6 brides and have had 4 new inquiries.  In less than a month, we have gone from praying for business to thinking at what point do you stop taking on new business (hence the happy complaining).  It has brought me to tears on several occasions in the last few weeks just thinking about it what has transpired.  With all this being said, I was driving home today thinking about each and every wedding we have coming up over the next 13 months.....so many emotions....excitement, anticipation, joy, fear, thankfulness, and then BAM it hits me!  It was if God said, "Are you kidding me?  All of this going on, all of these blessings and you don't know what to blog about!  Really?".  I just started laughing.....literally laughing out loud.  It was so true.  To go from "why aren't I booking any weddings" to "I may need to hire someone to help me keep up with all of this".  AND to think I didn't know what to blog about?!  I'm not sure if I was laughing with God or laughing at myself.  This verse immediately came to mind "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." Malachi 3:10 (NIV)

Some very, wise women asked me recently to name 5 things I am thankful for.....my first response was "His favor".  I think I will add "comical encounters with Him" to that list.  ;)
