"AH-HA" Moments

WOW!  Is this really happening?  Am I seriously blogging?!  IT IS HAPPENING, AND I AM BLOGGING!  Hello world!  I am Raeanne known to most as “Rae”.  I am a wife to KC, a mom to Reed and Hunter, and a daughter and granddaughter to a family who raised me to believe I could do ANYTHING!  Thanks to their belief, I have done just that.  From customer service, to nursing, to running a restaurant, to catering, to owning a gift shop, to delivering meals....and I have to admit, all of them for a paycheck.  Until one day in 2009, when my mom's BFF told me her daughter was getting married and she wanted me to help.  With my mom owning a restaurant and catering business, I had been around my fair share of parties and weddings and I had a decent rep around town for being a little talented in the “making things pretty” department.  Mom learned early in my life that she could throw me something and say “here, make this look good”.  But with this wedding, I got to be involved from start to finish!  I WAS OBSESSED!  It was all I could think about!  I found myself spending countless hours thinking, googling, and dreaming about it.  You would have thought it was my own wedding.  Not long after the planning started for this wedding, a childhood friend of mine (Leah) called.

Look at those kindergarten cuties.  Leah is on the right and that's me on the left.  This may be my 1st and last blog post after showing this picture.....but who can resist?!  ;)

Leah said “don't you want to help me with Karen's (her BFF) wedding?,  I'll help you with Sarah's,  if you will help me with Karen's”...."SURE" I said!  Why wouldn't I ?  I was already hooked on this whole wedding business!  The weddings were October of 2010.  We worked our tails off for both, but after each one (with sore bodies and aching feet) we were GLEAMING!

This is Sarah's (my mom's BFF's daughter) wedding.  We can't take credit for these flowers.  They were done by my talented mentor and lifelong friend Carol Ann Woodall and her sister Sandra.

This is Karen's (Leah's BFF) wedding.  This was our 1st floral arrangement.  We were terrified.  Karen is now a MUST on all Le Rae weddings.  She keeps us straight and I ADORE her!

It was an AH-HA moment for me.  I totally get what Harvey MacKay means when he said, "Find something you love to do, and you'll never work a day in your life"!  This was IT!  Not just being the caterer, not just being the florist, but being the DESIGNER of the day.  To start with a bride from the beginning, and having my hand in it ALL.  From menu design, to layout and floor plan, to the selection of linens, to choosing the right flowers, to finding that perfect piece of furniture and using it in a way no one expects.......This was IT!  So naturally,  I returned the favor and called back that childhood friend (Leah).  The conversation went something like this, “Don't you want to help me do something?”!  And as they say, the rest is history!

Thanks to our friends at Evan and Company, Hello Gorgeous Photography, LUSH Makeup Art, and the Alley Station for this picture!

Psalms 37:4  says;  “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart”.  My desire is to wake up every morning and do something I love.  Not to do something to get a paycheck, but do something I enjoy so much that I would do it even if I wasn't getting paid.  Weddings, events, decorating, designing, the art of ideas, creating that perfect piece to have people say “how in the world did you think of that?!”  This is what I love, and this is how Le Rae Events came to be!  I am so excited for what has already happened and what lies ahead.  Here, in this blog, I intend to share it all.  The good, the bad, and the beautiful, in my business and in life.  Stay tuned!
