I LOVE.....My Home

WOW!  And I thought I was late last night!  Sorry!  But how am I supposed to turn down a ride to Pisgah Hill with that cute, hard working hubby of mine?  Exactly!  You know you wouldn't either!  ;)  We needed to admire the progress that's been made and inspect the slab we (LOL) poured today.

How cute is this canvas I picked up for one of you?  Great gift for the goody basket!

As much social stuff as I am involved in, the truth is I am such a home body!  I get real giddy if I realize I don't have to leave the house for an entire day.  The old saying "there's no place like home" couldn't be more accurate.  For me, the words "my home" mean more than just the structural building.  The phrase encompasses many things I love:

The town I live in - Grady, Alabama.  When I was in school, I vowed NEVER to live here as an adult.  I graduated high school, moved to Auburn, and was back in 6 months.  Funny, right?  Grady is a tiny, little town.  We are 25 miles away from any major store and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The land I live on.  Besides a few month spurts here and there, I have lived at this address since I was 3 years old.  My grandfather bought this acreage when my mom was a school age child and still lives here to this day.  Paw Paw loves telling stories of what the property looked like when he purchased it.  He describes, "you couldn't even walk around because the trees were so thick".  "People thought I was crazy for buying this place", he says.  (I told you he was a big fat dreamer)

The house I live in.  Before my parents divorced, they built a house.  The original house plans were sketched on notebook paper by my mom.  Dad nailed a many of nails.  All while, sporting shaggy hair and a tool belt.

When KC and I got married, the house was empty.  Dad lived in South Carolina and mom with her husband, JL.  We decided to move in.  We have put it in countless hours (and dollars) remodeling, diy-ing, and making it our own.  (OH-good idea for another blog post!  I can show y'all before and after pics)  I don't think there is one square inch that we haven't "fixed up".  On the inside of the house that is.  But there is one part we didn't have to touch.....God (and Paw Paw) took care of that.  The view.

The view from our back porch.  What a gorgeous spot for wedding guests to dine.

The view from our front porch.  If you look real close you can see a swing in that oak.  We've had one there since I was a toddler.

Earlier this week, my devotion book "Grace for the Moment" by Max Lucado talked about God's mighty hand.  If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember me posting the page.  It challenged, "let each detail remind you to lift your head in praise.  Express your appreciation for God's creation.  Encourage others to see the beauty of his creation."  My home and this breathtaking view is the perfect example of the beauty of God's creation and His mighty hand.

Colossians 1:16 "for by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him."
